What we expect from you
What we need from you:
- Up to date medical history
- Up to date microchip, vaccincations, flea and worm treatments
- Full disclosure on any medical or behavioural issues
- Travel costs charged 25p per mile to safely deliver the dog to its new home
- £50 deposit to start the rehoming process
- Contributions towards the spaying/ neutering of the animal if not already done*
What you can expect from us in return:
- Upon gaining an understanding of your dogs needs and character, through a behavioural assessment and extensive conversations with you, we will advertise and take applicants for a new home for your dog
- We will individually assess each applicant and shortlist those which we deem best suited based on their lifestyle and needs of the animal, those shortlisted will then be vetted and home-checked.
- Once we have found the most suitable family, we will arrange to collect your dog (at which point a full, in-person assessment of the dog will take place before leaving) and one of our team will transport them to their new family and remain there until we are satisfied that both the dog and their new family are happy and settled
- At this point, the dogs microchip details will be transferred with the charity as the primary contact and the new family as the secondary contact. The dog will remain under our care and guidance for the rest of their life.
- Our admin team will maintain regular communication with the new owners for life via emails and video calls to stay updated on the animals wellbeing. The surrenderer will also be provided with periodic updates to give peace of mind and reassurance that you've made the best decision for your dog.
*Spaying/Neutering
- Every dog will be re-homed with a contract to spay/neuter. We ask that both surrenderer and adopter contribute wherever possible. Ethically, we believe this should only occur after the dog has had a settling period in their new home as not to disturb the bonding with their new owners in their new home. We require veterinary confirmation of the procedures completion within the agreed timeframe.
What you can expect from us
We understand that the decision to surrender your dog is not one you'll have come to easily. We work with you, your family and the dog to make the transition as seamless and easy as possible.
